In 2010 HGR conducted a survey of various hospitality recruitment topics, and the results were extremely well received within the industry globally.  This prompted us to repeat the exercise, and to draw comparisons and conclusions from the data in 2011 versus 2010.   This year, the survey was sent to a sample of 1000 recent international hospitality graduates and 500 current students from 50 different international hotel schools in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.  Below is a snapshot of our findings.

HGR (Hospitality Graduate Recruitment), the Swiss-based graduate recruitment company has been awarded a contract by the international hotel group Swiss-Belhotel International.  This contract will contribute to Swiss-Belhotel International’s recruitment processes for entry level, trainee, supervisory and junior management positions over the next twelve months within the Middle East region.

As the hospitality industry continues its steady emergence internationally from recession, graduate recruitment is a hot topic amongst the world’s big hotel groups, as well as many independent operators.  A recent hospitality graduate survey was conducted by HGR in June 2010 (based upon a sample of 1000 recent international hospitality graduates from 50 different hotel schools), with some interesting sample results summarized below.

Swiss-based Hospitality Graduate Recruitment has announced the launch of a new service enabling international hotel schools and university hospitality departments to be exclusively profiled on their leading website.

A large part of our business involves maintaining regular contact with the major international hotel chains, with senior Human Resource Management (both corporate and at hotel level) and with hotel General Managers and Head of Departments.  It has been absolutely frightening to experience the ease to which global hoteliers have adopted and accepted the ‘recruitment freeze’ strategy over the last 4-6 months, and especially recently within many Middle Eastern countries, and particularly within the large corporate hotel chains.

‘Keeping one’s head down’ is a phrase we are hearing a lot from hospitality managers, and it seems the whole industry is playing something of a waiting game while we see how the employment and market situation moves forward, and how long it takes to do so...
